From Federal Street to the forest
Mile High Fungi LLC was established in 2014 by Michael and Liz Nail. With backgrounds in sustainable agriculture and home construction, we decided to combine our skills and build a mushroom farm from the ground up. Michael’s from Maryland and Liz is from Colorado, but we met at the Evergreen State College of Olympia, WA where we were first introduced to the fascinating world of mycology. Since then, our interest in and understanding of the fungal kingdom has grown wildly.
Our little mushroom farm has a humble beginning. We got our start in Denver using the Cottage Food Act to operate out of our small home and two shipping containers in our backyard. A lot has happened since then! We completed the construction of our production facility near Conifer, CO in 2019 and are working hard to meet the growing demands of our community. Not only do we produce delicious gourmet mushrooms, we also support smaller farms as they work to realize their cultivation dreams. We offer fully colonized ready to fruit mushroom blocks in a range of quantities & prices as well as consulting services to meet our farmers where they’re at.
Along with our cultivated mushrooms, we’ve expanded our wild foraged offerings to include a wide variety of seasonal delicacies from morels to black truffles. You can find our fresh wild and cultivated mushrooms for your personal kitchen at our farmers markets or commit to a season of farm fresh offerings with our CSA partners. We are increasing our wholesale offerings extensively for our vibrant restaurant community including all the wild crafted mushrooms we source.
